Every week we’re spotlighting a program from around Pike County for our Team of the Week, presented by Casey Carter, Farm Bureau Insurance.

You can bet the atmosphere in CC Moore Stadium is going to be electric on Friday night, as the McComb High Tigers open Region 7-4A play with a matchup against the defending MHSAA 4A state champs from Poplarville High.

McComb is 5-0 on the season with wins over Tylertown, Jefferson County, Provine, Brookhaven High and Hazlehurst.

Sophomore signal caller Tramarion Davis has thrown for 618 yards thus far, with 10 touchdowns and just one interception on 27-of-49 passing.

On the ground, McComb uses a variety of ball carriers, with senior Jace Jackson topping the group in yards gained (179) and rushing touchdowns (four).

When Davis drops back to pass, he often finds standout senior tight end Broderick “Bam” Peters Jr., a Southern Miss commit.

Peters has caught nine passes this season for 267 yards, averaging 30 yards per reception while also scoring five touchdowns.

The MHS skill group also boasts junior wideout Sheldon Isaac, who’s caught nine passes for 207 yards and one score.

The offensive line is led by a guy with possibly the greatest nicknames in all of Mississippi, Anthony “Tow Truck” Alexander. His linemates include Lamarcus Turner, Braylon Davis, Jashawn Snowden, and Terrell Russ among others.

The defense has a true ball hawk in junior Delwin “Dejay” Perkins Jr. Perkins has two interceptions this season along with breaking up five passes.

Peters is also a force at defensive end, piling up five sacks and six quarterback hurries in five games.

Senior Cameron Hackett leads the Tiger defense with 42 tackles. He’s trailed in second place by senior linebacker Jarvis Anderson.

Against Poplarville, McComb head coach Alden Foster and his team will be tasked with slowing down one of the top running backs in the state junior running back Ty Keyes.

In five games, Keyes has rushed for 1,238 yards on 112 carries. He’s averaging 247 yards per game and 11.1 yards per carry.

Keyes has already scored 19 touchdowns this season.

Next week, McComb will continue region play with a trip to face Columbia High. They’ll then play at Lawrence County on Oct. 17 before having a bye-week and then finishing the 2025 regular season at home against South Pike on Halloween night in the Green and Gold Super Bowl.
