Every week we’re spotlighting a program as our Area Team of the Week, presented by Bank of Brookhaven.

The 2025-2026 soccer season has been a historic one for the girls’ soccer program at Wesson.

Led by first year head coach, Connor Crosby, the Lady Cobras finished first in Region 6-Class I.

It’s the first ever region championship in program history.

Members of the 2025-2026 Wesson soccer team include, front row, from left, Meredith McKenzie, Preslee Newman, Maria McKenzie Hall, Macy Loy, Eden Hall, and Jaide Shoop; back row, from left, assistant coach Andrew Dowd, Haley Bates, Enijah Hubbard, Emory Britt, Madelyn Brooks, Jacy Heard, Ady Rose Dowd, Laina Hart, Coach Connor Crosby, Mikelyn Douglas, and Zoey Ashley.

The Lady Cobras split their regular season matches with their district rivals from McLaurin, losing 1-0 in the first matchup, but then coming back to defeat MHS 3-1, which gave Wesson the division championship based on goals differentials.

They’ll host Southeast Lauderdale (3-16-1) tonight in a Class I playoff opening round match.

The match begins at 5 p.m. in Stone Stadium on the campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson.

Sophomore Ady Rose Dowd leads the Wesson offense this season with a school record 29 goals.

The winner between Wesson and Southeast Lauderdale will meet Our Lady Academy in the second round. OLA oved on with a 6-0 win at West Lincoln on Thursday.
