Every week we’re spotlighting a program from around Lincoln County for our Team of the Week, presented by Bank of Brookhaven.

The Brookhaven High volleyball team sits on the cusp of another playoff appearance as the regular season will end on Thursday, Oct. 2 with a Region 3-5A match at North Pike.

Brookhaven High and head coach Charlton Grey are 7-15 on the season and 4-5 in division play coming into the regular season finale.

North Pike (11-8, 5-4) defeated Brookhaven High 3-2 when the teams met back on Aug. 28 in Sinclair Gymnasium.

Regardless of who wins or losses on Thursday, the Panthers and Jaguars know they’ll both either finish third or fourth in Region 3 behind the top seed Sumrall (21-5, 10-0) and second seeded South Jones (14-6, 8-2).

Region 3 will match up with Region 4-5A in the postseason, which means Brookhaven High will either play at Purvis (30-5) or Vancleave (15-6) in the first round of the 5A playoffs, which are slated to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

BHS started playing volleyball in 2021. They’ve made the 5A playoffs, including this season, for four straight years. The program is still looking for its first playoff win, but the seven regular seasons thus far ties the previous best achieved two years ago.

Seniors on the 2025 roster include Jamaria Cook, Jayonna Pendleton, Julianna Townsend, I’breshia Butler, Addyson Foster, and J’kariya Williams.

The school recently honored the senior class before a match, with each player being joined on the court by their family members.
